Plastic water bottles are detrimental to the environment in a number of ways. Firstly, the production of plastic produces large quantities of pollutants and uses non-renewable energy resources. Once produced, the plastic is then transported, often thousands of miles, to the location of water bottle production. Transport methods invariably contribute significantly to CO2 emissions.
